Accessibility

Making culture accessible to all.

We believe in an Oxford University that’s accessible for everyone. The Schwarzman Centre is open to the public and all University members all day, every day.

The Schwarzman Centre is a fully accessible building, with all floors accessible by lifts. If you find yourself without access to a certain floor, our reception staff are always there to assist.

Every floor has accessible WCs, with a Changing Places facility available on the ground level.

Performance access
All performance and lecture spaces are fully accessible.
Hearing enhancement
All performance and lecture spaces use an infra-red hearing enhancement system.
Captioning / Audio Description / BSL
Certain performances will have enhanced accessibility. These are highlighted on the event webpage and in programmes.
Assistance animals
Your assistance animal is always welcome. We can offer you an aisle seat, and let you know about any special effects that might affect them. Alternatively, our front-of-house staff can look after your assistance animal while you attend an event.
Families
We’re accessible to all, including all ages. That means families are actively welcomed at the Schwarzman: Breastfeed freely, anywhere that’s comfortable – or a quiet nursing room is also available. All our public spaces are fully accessible to pushchairs and wheelchair users. We have free public toilets and baby changing facilities. Children under-12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Access Card

We bring culture closer to everyone, which makes accessibility our highest priority. We’ve partnered with Nimbus Disability to create the Schwarzman Centre Access Pass – the simple way to communicate your access needs with us, and make every visit effortless.
